We are a casual (to put it mildly) mix of Honda Goldwing and other motorcyclists, bikers, riders, enthusiasts, dweebs, geeks and geezers based in the Southeastern United States. We currenty have members in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Wisconsin. Think of us as a Saturday morning ride run amok who do the minimum of planning just to get it all going. Then it goes it's own way (or ways) as things become dynamic. The best statement I have heard to describe it came from one of our members who said: "meet at dublin rest
area, spin a GPS and pick a direction"
Other than a starting date and time, that pretty much wraps up the planning portion of the program. Like I said... casual. We usually plan two main gatherings per year, one in the spring and one in the fall which we number to keep track of. Additionally, there are often several lesser rides put together ad-hoc by members, which we call decimal rides which occur between the major rides. So, for example, after SERRASJ - 3 might be SERRASJ 3.1, 3.2 and so on until the next major gathering which would be SERRASJ - 4 in this case. To best describe this group let me identify a few things we are not about. Meetings, badges, vests, door prize drawings, order, management, egos, people who can't take a joke and laugh at themselves or have fun poked at them in friendly jest, dinner rides, charity planning, donations, membership requirements, being taken over by anyone, set rides, set anything for that matter, ride captains, tail gunners, trying to find alternate reasons to ride, drinking and riding or drugs and riding (legal or otherwise). We
ride to ride and enjoy each other's company. That's really
it! Simple enough.
If you are looking for clubhouse style order or a place to insert an agenda of your own, I'd look elsewhere if I were you. We just aren't attracted to order and structure. Sorry. Anyway, if you would like to join us, please feel free to do so. We have always had fun and as far as I know most who have tried us have had fun also. Come and go as you please, split off and head your own direction whenever you want. It is totally open. Oh... no fees either. Our next major gathering & ride: SERRASJ - 5 April 25 and 26, 2009. Meetup at the I-16 eastbound rest area just west of Dublin, GA, 11 am eastern time. SLIGHT CHANGE OF PLANS: THIS REST AREA IS CURRENTLY CLOSED. INSTEAD, HEAD EAST ON I-16 TWO EXITS AND MEET AT THE CRACKER BARREL RESTAURANT AT THE SAME TIME. (typically this is an all day ride with an overnight stay someplace followed by a return ride the next day heading for home, but you can do as much or little of it as suits you, your interests, and your schedule) Want to ride there with some folks?
For meetup details and to communicate in advance use: info @ serrasj.com (remove spaces) Come on down and meet some new friends if you're of a mood. |
